Due to the fire at La Mama Theatre on Faraday Street on the 19th of May 2018 the theatre is currently in a process of being rebuilt. Our intention is to restore our beloved La Mama to its humble, intimate self, honouring our rich past and preparing for our fruitful future. Despite the tragedy of the fire, there is significant opportunity for La Mama to to make some adjustments and improvements – one very clear example is that we will be able to realise our long-held ambition to make La Mama a fully accessible space; which delights us greatly! We’re in the process of dreaming, reflecting, considering and planning. We are looking forward to commencing the rebuild of La Mama in the coming months.
HOW TO GET THERE We encourage our lovely audience to come to our performance in a sustainable way. There is plenty of free bike parking in La Mama’s forecourt. Moreover, both venues are also a 5 minutes walk from the Melbourne University Tramstop (Routes: 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 64, 67, 72) and a 2 Minutes walk from the Bus stop (Routes: 200 and 207). Please plan your journey with the Public Transport Journey Planner. If ever you drive there, car parking is available in the area but can be especially difficult on Friday and Saturday nights, so please allow plenty of time.
