It is with sadness and concern for our artists that we will be postponing this production

We hope to re-program this production in 2021 and trust you will understand the need for this decision at this time.

We strongly encourage anyone who has bought a ticket to consider making this a donation to the artists involved. This is a very unnerving time for all, but the independent arts sector is, as always, particularly vulnerable. The artists have been working very hard and we hope to support them as best as we can. We have set up the possibility of donating directly to artists.

This new work is a follow-up to the production performed in June 2019.

There was amazing audience feedback to the extent that a further development was submitted. In the 2020 version, The SUBLIME – as a concept – will shrivel away as we seek to dessicate its current (mostly popular) usage. We will also include some key excerpts from the earlier piece. Having worked consistently at La Mama since 1973, Lloyd Jones is known for his advocacy for non-scripted, non-rehearsed, theatre non-theatre!! The Ensemble is a diverse group of people who willingly put their hands up to be party to the ‘known unknowns’.

The work is highly ‘conceptual’, and does not pretend to provide explanations, leaving open the window for the audience to be free of the conventional theatrical expectations mostly driven by narrative. There are 20 performers involved : ‘veterans’ who have been with the group for 30-plus years, and at the other extreme, those making their debut.

The title is to ‘kick start’, pre-production, the creative thinking – both individually, as well as within the group. The support team include Lisa Inman (Tech), Rick Evereszt (Archivist Video and Photos), Sophia Constantine (Communications), Hayley Fox (Theatre Manager), Raymond Triggs (Set Construction)… and… all of the La Mama staff, including Front of House.

We cannot overlook the amazing support of partners and families
