A young Torres Strait Islanders recounting of her Mother’s journey ‘down south’ unearths her own quest for belonging.
Oh My God I’m Blak! is a poignant one-woman cabaret stye show which tells the story of Menan, a young Torres Strait Islander raised in Melbourne, who traces her origins back to her Mother’s Ailan home, finally finding connection through music and song; songs her mother taught her, songs from the Islands about departure and belonging, and songs from the radio of her childhood.
