Union House Theatre supports the development of student theatre–this evening is an opportunity for students to present works in development.

Union House Theatre is the hub for co-curricular student theatre at the University of Melbourne. We program performances, masterclasses and events giving students a taste of professional practice. We have been nurturing student playwrights, directors, performers and technicians since 1969! This Explorations Opportunity is a chance for current students within our development program to show their works in progress and develop their theatrical pursuits. Over three nights we will present 6 new works / or part-works. These works can take any shape or form-they might be scripts, devised works, dance, new-musicals, comedy–the choice is theirs.

It was a real privilege working with UHT and the Writers program this year. We had a large group and I was mightily impressed by the dedication and calibre of the writers. It is a fantastic training ground for emerging playwrights as evidenced by past alumni, and I can’t wait to see many of these plays on Melbourne stages soon.
