A spoken-word piece, titled Spring, celebrating the rebirth of La Mama Theatre.

After starting out in The National Children’s Choir (2009-2011) and later, the Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) theatre scene with credits in the Short+Sweet Festival (2014), Theatre for Young People (T4YP – 2014) and Marble Hearts (2016), Yogashree is a 2019 graduate of Singapore’s LASALLE College of the Arts’ Diploma in Performance program. She is an actor, playwright, spoken word poet and singer whose focus is to devise and perform in works centred on the female perspective, politics, socio-cultural phenomena and relationships. She co-devised Family Secrets (2018) and Tawai: Our Inner Connection with Nature (2018) during her time at LASALLE.

Yogashree also has a passion for applied theatre and believes that an artist has a responsibility to use their voice and their platform to speak for those who otherwise cannot. More recently, she was seen in Metanoia Theatre’s Museum UNDONE (2021) where she wrote and performed her own piece while also working as a production assistant. She also completed an internship at La Mama Courthouse (2021) and is slated to perform two original poems at La Mama Courthouse and War-Rak/Banksia Festival at La Mama in September and October 2021 respectively.
