The War-Rak Banksia Festival edition of Poetica brings you poetry and spoken word that will open you up to new ways of seeing and being.
We have two specially chosen poets performing in the newly built theatre. Maxime Banks, known for her Melbourne Fringe Festival show ‘Black to the Future’, will bring her time travelling spoken word of the African American diaspora. Alice Allan, known for combining poetry and improvised performance and author of ‘The Empty Show’, will share her very relatable and moving new poems. On the steps of the Rehearsal Hub, Rania Ahmed of Bukjeh will be sharing words with you on resilience and rebirth. On these same steps, multi award-winning Zimbabwean poet and slam champion Thabani Tshuma will weave words and images for your listening delight.
