“I never thought I’d end up becoming this person, but now, looking back.. maybe it was all I was ever going to be.”

It’s 11pm on a winter’s night. Remote Victoria. Rain is pouring down outside. A young man sits still in a room after being found covered in blood. It’s his birthday, and he’s suspected of committing a violent crime – but he won’t say what he did.

Over the course of an hour, this man slowly but surely recalls what has happened, whilst also getting a glimpse of the person he once was, and the person he could have become.

A new work by Zachary Kazepis, IN BLOOD explores themes of class, family, masculinity and identity through the story of a young man’s gaze into the abyss.
