Myf Powell is a theatre maker, musician, teacher and inclusive arts practitioner. Myf holds a Bachelor of Arts in Performance Studies from Victoria University (1992), Masters in Text and Performance from University of London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts / King’s College London (1997), and a Masters in Community Cultural Development from University of Melbourne (2009).
Myf’s previous roles include Artistic Director of City of Voices Inclusive Theatre (2004-2022), Elder Clown & Local Program Coordinator for The Humour Foundation bringing fun and laughter to people in aged care facilities (2013-2022), Creative Producer / Acting Manager Artist Engagement at Arts Access Victoria (2018-2021), Performance Coordinator for The Torch (2010-13), Sessional Lecturer at Victoria University (2004-12) & RMIT (2000).
Myf has written, performed, directed and produced original creative work in both Australia and the UK, including the Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne Fringe, St Kilda Festival and International Art of Difference Festival. Performing works the banks of the Thames River in London to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, from the Butterfly Club in Melbourne to atop a double decker bus on route to St Kilda.
Passionate about the power of creativity to transform lives and transcend boundaries, Myf continues working in grassroots community with Vossanova – an inclusive, community choir based in South Melbourne – and world class, original, contemporary theatre practice, as Development and Pathways Manager at La Mama since 2021.
