Artistic Program Manager -Xanthe Beesley

Xanthe Beesley is a Melbourne-based performance maker with a background in theatre and dance. Often taking on a different role depending on the need of each artist, organisation or community she collaborates with, Xanthe works as a theatre-maker, producer, facilitator and movement-director.

As an artist, her practice is the facilitation of creative ideas through movement and dramaturgy. Recent work includes director – things we should talk about (Union House Theatre), producer – The Caretaker (La Mama), performer/collaborator In Plan, by Michelle Heaven (Castlemaine Festival) and director – Body Move Space (Footscray Community Arts Centre/ Gertrude Street Projection Festival).

A strong advocate for the independent arts, Xanthe has worked as the Independent Program Producer at Melbourne Fringe, was co-chair of the Green Room Independent Theatre panel for two years, and throughout her career has worked with hundreds of independent artists on the realisation of their creative ideas.

Her experience working with theatre companies, universities, cultural institutions and festivals spans numerous organisations including Melbourne Fringe, Footscray Community Arts Centre, Rawcus Ensemble, Arts Access Victoria, Present Tense Ensemble, Victorian College of the Arts, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and KITE theatre.

She holds Master of Theatre-Practice from the VCA and currently works at Union House Theatre at the University of Melbourne, sharing the role of Artistic Director.
