Emerge is a process-based performance-making project exploring isolation, connection and identity. These artists have worked together for the past 10 weeks developing their shared practice as Melbourne’s next generation of theatre-makers. This time has been filled with learning text and movement-based practice, and conversations about creativity. We’ve asked what it means to be an artist today, including interrogating our responsibilities to ourselves, each other, and the communities we make work for. This season is a snapshot of the ideas and processes we have been exploring together.
