Using bunraku-style puppetry and visual theatre, WAKE spans a spectrum which at one end is strikingly beautiful, and at the other is just plain bizarre. Writer and director Ben Anderson collaborates with an ensemble of puppeteers to explore the life and times of a conspiracy theorist whose beliefs, if correct, threaten life as we know it. Beautiful, funny, sad, and true, WAKE tenderly pulls at the tapestry thread and unravels the fear, philosophy and humanity behind misbelief, and the relational devastation it leaves in its wake.
