La Mama Poetica Curator – Amanda Anastasi
Amanda Anastasi started curating La Mama Poetica in September 2013. Amanda is also a Melbourne poet who has featured at various poetry events and festivals in Melbourne. Amanda studied Professional Writing and Literature at Deakin University.
Her work has been published in magazines and anthologies both locally and in New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Her words have also been seen on the scrolling text screens of Federation Square and on the walls of Prahran’s Artist’s Lane. Amanda was the 2010 and 2011 winner of the Williamstown Literary Festival’s Ada Cambridge Poetry Prize. She has since been a judge for both the Ada Cambridge Poetry Prize and the Right Now Human Rights Poetry Prize.
She has organised many spoken word events for literary and local festivals. Amanda’s first collection 2012 and other poems were named in Ali Alizadeh’s ‘Top Ten Poetic Works of 2012’ in Overland Literary Journal. She was also the co-writer of Loop City, along with poet Steve Smart and New Zealand composer Yvette Audain, produced by MSO’s Sarah Curro.
