LA MAMA POETICA
La Mama Poetica is a night of some of the best spoken word and poetry that Melbourne has to offer, with a diverse selection of both emerging and established poets. La Mama Poetica is curated and hosted by Amanda Anastasi.
Tuesday, 6th November at the La Mama Courthouse Theatre, 349 Drummond St, Carlton at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

KEVIN BROPHY is a professor emeritus at the University of Melbourne and the author of many books and essays. His new poetry collection follows a year spent living in a remote Aboriginal community in WA.
MANISHA ANJALI performs works about the dreams and hallucinations of Indo-Fijian women. She is the author of ‘Sugar Kane Woman’ and an emerging cultural leader at the Footscray Community Arts Centre.
ANDREW GALAN is described by reviewers as “riddled with satire”. He is the author of ‘For All the Veronicas (The Dog Who Staid)’, winner of the 2017 ACT Writing & Publishing Award.
JENNY BLACKFORD is the recipient of the 2017 Thunderbolt Prize for Crime Poetry and the Humorous Verse section of the Henry Lawson Awards. Her recent collection is ‘The Loyalty of Chickens’.
