Catherine Hill – Chair
Catherine is a Vincent Fairfax Fellow (Ethics in Leadership) and a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (Actor) and the University of New South Wales (BA). In 2009 she completed Mediation training through the Victorian Department of Justice. Catherine works an actor, director and dramaturge. She also works for the Salvation Army Crisis Centre and the Sacred Heart Mission. She is proud of La Mama’s ongoing commitment to “nurture, enhance, encourage, cultivate and improve the Arts”
Mark Rubbo – Treasurer
Mark Rubbo is the Managing Director of Australia’s pre-eminent independent retailer, Readings Books Music Film. Readings Carlton won Australian Bookseller of the Year Award 2009. A former judge of the Miles Franklin Literary Award, Mark is recognised as one of the book trade’s leading authorities and in 2008 was awarded an Order of Australia (OAM) for his services to Australian literature and bookselling.
Tim Stitz – Secretary
Tim Stitz is an actor, theatre-maker, producer and passionate advocate for the independent arts sector. As an actor, theatre-maker he’s appeared many times at La Mama and across Australia in theatre, film and television. In his other life, he’s currently Project Manager for TheatreSpace, an Australian Research Council project investigating the young audiences of our major state theatre companies and cultural venues. Tim is also Chair of the Green Room Awards Independent Theatre Panel.
Emily Harms – Committee Member
Emily is currently the Marketing Manager at Readings Books Music Film. She has extensive arts marketing experience having worked at the Australian Film Institute, Geelong Performing Arts Centre and as Marketing Manager for Playbox and the Malthouse Theatre.
Caroline Lee – Committee Member
Caroline has worked extensively in theatre, film and television. She has performed at La Mama on numerous occasions, starting in 1989 with “The Woodbox.” She has also worked with the Melbourne Theatre Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Back to Back Theatre, Aphids, Finucane and Smith, Lloyd Jones and the Malthouse, and received Green Room Awards for Best Actressfor her roles in “alias Grace” and “Ordinary Misery,” both of which premiered at La Mama. Caroline’s film and television credits include the internationally popular drama Neighbours, as well as Blue Heelers, Satisfaction, MDA, Halifax fp and Dogs in Space. Caroline is also a writer, and her debut novel “Stripped” is currently being serialised in the literary journal “Meanjin.”
Rhonda Day – Committee Member
Rhonda is a member of the Carlton Residents Association and currently internal Ombudsman in a major bank. She was formerly Assistant Ombudsman in the Victorian Ombudsman’s office. Her experience includes managing the VCE program of student exhibitions and performances and the secretariats of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority and the Victorian Learning and Employment Skills Commission. She has an MA in Public Policy, is a qualified mediator and completed the Experience Bank program at Leadership Victoria.
