Marketing & Communications – Sophia Constantine
Sophia has scored a dream job working at La Mama in 2017. She first came to La Mama in 2008 on a tour with her Diploma in Theatre Arts course at Victoria University. She fell in love with the vibrancy and inclusiveness of the space and community feeling instantly at home.
Sophia graduated from a Bachelor of Creative Arts – Media and Theatre at La Trobe University in 2012. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Arts and Community Engagement from VCA. Additionally Sophia has studied acting at the VCA. Sophia was a board member for Platform Youth Theatre for six years; she was a part of the executive team and the Vice Chairperson for their board.
Sophia has worked with the VCA Centre for Community Partnerships faculty as a Community Arts Facilitator. She has received awards for her self-devised work Truthmachine and Meow. Sophia performed in Slut by Patricia Cornelius and directed by Nadja Kostich. She has danced with choreographer Yumi Umiumare on a durational dance piece for Light in Winter Festival at Federation Square 3 years in a row. Sophia performed in Birdcage Thursday by Sandra Long Directed by Caitlin Dullard and is thrilled to be going on tour with this production later in 2017 produced by La Mama Mobile program.
Sophia currently works at DVA Theatre as Assistant Director and as Lead Artist with Arts Access Victoria’s Way Out West Program.
