MADAME NIGHTSHADE’S POISON GARDEN
They said: ‘Do not play, in the Poison Garden…’
Fresh from SOLD OUT shows at La Mama’s Explorations 2016, Madame Nightshade is back with her absurd games, twisted rituals and bouffon-inspired anarchy. In the dystopic world of the Poison Garden. The absurd and the ridiculous meet the chaotic and violent, and things are never quite as they seem. This dark, visceral comedy upends the compost bin of history, its gendered and colonial assumptions, and rifles through the remains.
An interactive performance incorporating elements of physical theatre, contemporary clown, queer spectacle, grotesque glamour and vegetable manipulation.
This is one wild ride you won’t want to miss.
Anna Thomson is a Melbourne-based clown, theatre-maker, and queer performer. She makes up one seventh of PO PO MO CO; Melbourne’s own rambunctious queer-comedy troupe, and has performed in variety shows and festivals around Australia. Anna has a flair for creating visual theatre through the use of props and costumes. She would have included more props in Madame Nightshade’s Poison Garden, but was told not to, by nearly everyone.
