MADAME NIGHTSHADE’S POISON GARDEN
GROTESQUE GLAMOUR. VEGETABLE MANIPULATION. MESS.
Fresh from SOLD OUT shows at La Mama’s Explorations 2016, Madame Nightshade is back with her absurd games, twisted rituals and bouffon-inspired anarchy. In the dystopic world of the Poison Garden. The absurd and the ridiculous meet the chaotic and violent, and things are never quite as they seem. This dark, visceral comedy upends the compost bin in our ‘own backyard’, its gendered and class-based assumptions, and rifles through the remains.
A dark, visceral physical comedy incorporating clowning, bouffonery and queer spectacle.
Anna Thomson is a Melbourne-based clown, theatre-maker, and queer performer. She makes up one seventh of PO PO MO CO; Melbourne’s own rambunctious queer-comedy troupe. She is serious about stupidity.
