AN EVENING WITH SANDRA SHOTLANDER
Featuring her latest play Lady in Waiting and other pieces, old and new, this evening of short works celebrates Sandra’s career and contribution to Australian theatre. Directed by eminent theatre maker Alison Richards, the evening features some of Melbourne’s leading independent actors. Eloquent, graceful and powerful.
-Professor Anna Kay France, founder, Women Playwrights International on Lady in Waiting.
Understated and elegant, Alison Richards’ direction is simple and stunning.

Sandra Shotlander has been hailed as one of Australia’s favourite feminist playwrights. The author of original plays for young people as well as adults, Sandra’s work is notable for its warmth, incisive wit and wryly humorous engagement with the politics of contemporary sexuality. Her best known works for the theatre include Framework (1983), Blind Salome (1985), Angels of Power (1991) and Is That You, Nancy? : Collected Phone calls of Gertrude Stein and Others (1991). If there is such a thing as a classic of gay theatre writing in Australia then Sandra Shotlander’ s Framework is it.
